About the award
The Berkshire Artistree Award is funded and presented by the artistic community of Berkshire. The award was designed to recognise our local musicians, venue owners, volunteers and promoters for their contribution to the artistic community in Berkshire, based on three major attributes:
– Artistic Development
– Charity & volunteering
– Advocacy & representation
The award is funded by generous donations of the community themselves and the winner is presented with a cash prize to put towards a project to improve their act!
Meet our Winners!
2025 - TARA DEANE
Maidenhead-based creative Tara Deane was nominated for Advocacy and Artistic Development, for her outstanding contribution to the Berkshire music scene. A respected acoustic artist in her own right, she is well known for hosting the much-loved Off The Tap open mic night, which has become a cornerstone of the local live music community.
More notably, Tara is the founder and host of the Inside the Music Scene podcast. which promotes local artists and interviews industry professionals with the intention of educating artists and elevating their careers.
She creates vital opportunities for emerging acts by channelling them to various events and festivals, and works tirelessly as a champion of grassroots music!
2023 - SOPHIE SHEEHAN
Sophie (of Colours and Fires) won the BA award in 2023 for her unrelenting support for musicians and the community in Reading. Alongside this, her authentic songwriting beautifully captures her message of positivity and unity, inspiring all around her to do the same.
Whilst a fantastic advocate of the LGBTQ+ community, her involvement in Berkshire’s music scene is also next to none. Her nomination came amongst a great collection of candidates in the area, however Sophie exceeded them all through her incredible support for artists’ individual shows, her work as a member of Reading Pride organising committee, and her selfless voluntary work at numerous local events and fundraisers!
Sadly Sophie passed away in May 2025, but has been since immortalised via a plaque in the Butler, Reading and celebrated at local events. A tribute was made at the awards night 2025, and a charity show was hosted earlier in the year to raise money for foundations close to her heart. (Oct 1968 – May 2025)
2022 - NICOLE ALLAN
Nicole Allan is a local treasure and brilliantly talented storyteller and songstress. Her rustic country style cuts through the noise amongst some of Berkshire’s highest talent, reflecting songwriters such as Leanne Rhymes, Kelly Clarkson, Anastasia and more!
She was nominated for 2022’s Berkshire Artistree award for her incredible efforts to encourage aspiring musicians onto the stage, after creating a wonderfully welcoming environment at the infamous Butler Open Mic night. She also runs the second stage at Marvellous Festival, held in Winnersh, to provide exposure for these artists to crowds of over 5,000 festival goers and music enthusiasts.
