The Music community comes together to raise money for Reading Pride

In 2025, Reading lost a much-loved member of its music community, Sophie Sheehan. Sophie brought energy, passion, and personality to the local scene. She regularly performed live, helped organise Reading Pride, and strongly supported Reading’s LGBTQ+ community. In recognition of this, she was awarded the Berkshire Artistree Award in 2024. 

This special event honours Sophie’s life and celebrates the community she helped build.

All day on 10th October 2026

The event itself is made up of several venues all showcasing live music on the same day around Reading Town Centre, including The Butler, Biscuit Factory, Milk, the Oakford Social Club and more! Acts will be encouraged to perform at multiple venues throughout the day to celebrate the musical community as a testimony to Sophie’s legacy. Throughout summer 2026, buffer events will be held to raise awareness and help raise money for the ultimate goal of supporting Reading Pride

Road to Soka events

Several events will be held in the run up to the main event (dates to be released on our events calendar):

The Butler

One of Reading’s most active grassroots music venues. It sits at the heart of the local scene and hosts the well-known Butler Open Mic Night.

The Oakford Social Club

Located near Reading Station, this long-standing venue has supported live music for more than 25 years, continuing to give artists a platform to perform and grow.

Biscuit Factory

Once a cinema, Biscuit Factory now hosts live music, exhibitions, and co-working spaces. It offers creatives a place to connect and thrive.

Milk

A cosy bar just off Friar Street, Milk is known for its modern atmosphere, quality cocktails, and welcoming setting.

Market House

A lively social venue that hosts open mic nights, live sport, and community events throughout the year.

Broad Street Mall

A key part of Reading’s town centre, Broad Street Mall will help bring this event to a wider public audience.

Local artists

Local artists from across Berkshire will come together to perform and raise funds for the cause.

Country powerhouse Nicole Allan has spearheaded the event. Alongside running The Butler Open Mic, she helps organise several important dates in Reading’s music calendar. Thanks to her leadership, many of the area’s top performers have already pledged their support.
